Features, trends and prospects of digital transformation of the economy: global and national experience

The subject of the paper is the digital transformation of the economy in Russia and foreign countries, its impact on the development of business, economic sectors, the social sphere and the system of state and municipal administration. The study provides a comparative analysis of the level of digitalization of the economy in Russia and European countries according to such indicators as the Digitalization Index, the UN e-government rating (EGDI). The main trends of digital transformation at the present stage are determined, due, inter alia, to the impact of the global coronavirus pandemic. The problems that prevent our state from achieving leadership positions in the digitalization of the economy (lagging behind in the development of digital infrastructure from Western countries; digital inequality of regions; digitalization of consumption to the detriment of the development of digital industries) are identified, and directions for its development in the future are reviewed.
