Features of typologization of regions: approaches and options of criteria

The article is about the consideration and systematization of the methods of typologizing regions. The author identifies two approaches to the typology of territories. The first approach involves the grouping of regions on the basis of an analysis of their characteristics, the second approach is based on a predefined (based on the possibility of transforming individual territories) system of types of regional systems. The article presents a grouping of typologies from the point of view of the criterion proposed for consideration. There are single-criteria (based on the measurement of the value of one indicator), specialized (involving the study of one of the aspects of territorial development) and comprehensive (comprehensive assessment of the socio-economic situation of the territory) typologies.
