Characteristics of Construction Services Trade at the Present Stage

International trade in services, despite its relative newness, has become a key segment of the global economy in recent decades. The adoption of the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) within the World Trade Organization in 1995 marked the beginning of systemic regulation in this area, structuring models for the cross-border supply of services and harmonizing approaches to their regulation at the national and international levels. Given the accelerated growth of the global services market, research into its individual segments, including construction services trade as one of the most complex and capital-intensive areas, is of particularly importance. Con- struction services are highly institutional, regulatory, and politically sensitive, requiring participants in international projects to possess not only technical competence but also an adaptive organizational structure. The article considers the current characteristics of cross-border trade in construction services, focusing on legal, organizational, and economic aspects. We have analyzed the forms of international supply of construction services within the context of the GATS classification, identifying specific risks, including regulatory, currency, and political ones, and demonstrating the dependence of construction exports on macroeconomic conditions.
