In this retrospective study, we analyzed early postoperative period in 85 patients with gunshot and stab wounds to the abdomen who underwent surgeries in Grozny City Hospital No. 9. Thirty-five patients (41.1%) had gunshot abdominal wounds (all of them were penetrating). Twenty-five patients (29.4%) had stab abdominal wounds (some of them had penetrating wounds). The control group included 25 healthy volunteer donors of the same age and gender. We found that patients with stab abdominal wounds had increased platelet aggregation activity starting from day 3 postoperatively, which is attributed to the activation of receptors containing elements of b-D-galactose, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, and N-acetyl-neuraminic (sialic) acid. Recovery of these receptors was registered seven days postoperatively. In patients with gunshot abdominal wounds, changes in platelet aggregation activity during the first 24 hours after surgery occur due to glycoprotein receptors containing elements of b-D-galactose, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, and N-acetyl-neuramic (sialic) acid, and mannose. Complete recovery of the evaluated parameters was observed ten days postoperatively.
