The article deals with the factors that attract Vietnamese migrants to Russia. The paper discusses the characteristics of the Vietnamese diaspora in Russia. The statistical data on the labor and educational migration from Vietnam to Russia is applied and analysed. The author develops a classification of the Vietnamese diaspora by groups and describes their basic properties and qualities as social and ethnic groups.
