Peculiarities of the military and disciplinary policy of the Russian state in early XIX century

The author identifies three strategic directions of the authorities to ensure strong discipline in the army: a soldier psychophysiological suppression of an warrior's personality by drill and cruel punishment, full regulation of the military service, based on military law, the formation of integrity of a soldier towards his military duty. At the same time the emphasis is made not on the personal characteristics of each soldier, but on his ability to carry out orders without thinking.
