The article discusses the peculiarities of perception and evaluation of consumer society's ideals and stereotypes by the Russian youth. It is noted that the attitude of the Russian young people to the ideals and stereotypes of the western model of consumer society is ambivalent and is often remarkable for its extreme fragmentation. The undertaken studies show that the young people are becoming less intellectual in terms of the consumption of high culture products. It also allows emphasizing a tendency of value split in the youth community, which tends to resist and reject the consumerism ideals and stereotypes.
