Statement of the problem. The artistic prose of I.V. Odoevtseva has so far been little studied in Russian literary criticism. Therefore, the analysis of her prose works of fiction is of scientific interest. The purpose of the article is to identify the peculiarities of perception of the world in I.V. Odoevtseva’s novel The Angel of Death. Review of scientific literature on the problem. A review of the works related to the study of I.V. Odoevtseva’s prose has been made, mainly a study of memoirs. Works related to the study of lyrics are not considered in this article. Methodology (methods and materials). The hermeneutical and interpretation methods were used as a method, which allow a systematic and detailed approach to the problem. The material of the analysis was I.V. Odoevtseva’s novel The Angel of Death. Research results. In the course of the work, it became clear that children’s perception is connected with the past and is associated exclusively with life in the Russian Empire; the author’s own view of the present is very skeptical and reflects the life of Russian immigrants in France. These points of view are in tragic confrontation in order to provoke emotions of anger in the recipients.
