Emergence and development of social legislation in Germany in the 1870-1920

This article explores the history of the emergence and development of state social policy in Germany in the period between the 1880s and the 1920s. The analysis includes the study of political reasons and prerequisites for state social policy formation, and the analysis of the existing social legislation. Special attention is paid to the study of the social and legal foundations of the Weimar Constitution of 1919. On the basis of the results of the study, the author concluded that the social legislation of the period under consideration laid the foundation for the emergence of a modern social state in the Federal Republic of Germany
