The article is devoted to the research results of the Siberian ethnographic detachment of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of SB RAS to identify the features of building business of Russian old residents in the Lower Angara, which is one of the first regions of the Russian colonization of Siberia, originally populated by the people from the Russian North. The question of fixing and determining the degree of preservation and transformation of the traditions of their descendants is of particular relevance due to physical loss of settlements in the area due to economic reforms. System of settling of the Russians in Lower Angara region survived to the present. The expansion of land development went through closely groups with North Russian roots who resettled in new places. Location of settlements was nesting coastal and island, traditional for the Russian North. Villagers from the old residents («angarty-kezhmary») are aware of their identity as a Russian, combined living on the Angara River and ancient family ties. Due to the remoteness and difficult access to many areas in the culture of the Russian Angara residents largely conserve the tradition of house building, brought from landfall. However, in the tradition of erecting buildings, types of houses, farm buildings seen as North Russian traditions, elements of the traditions of other areas, as well as the modernization process are observed. Building industry is a prime example of the implemented version of North Russian traditions in Siberia.
