In this paper it is shown that analytical solution for diffraction problem of TE-polarized monochromatic Gaussian beam on homogeneous dielectric cylinder, when the radius of the cylinder have the same order of magnitude as the incident wavelength, produces focal spot outside the cylinder with transverse dimensions half the size of the diffraction limit. A solution was obtained in the case when radius of dielectric cylinder is only two times more than wavelength but maximum intensity in focal spot is 48 times as much as maximum intensity of incident Gaussian beam.
