In the article the problem of representation of Other Culture in one of the fundamental social institutions - school education - is discussed. The data are the study guides and reading books of the 1920-s devoted to the American theme. The author of the article researches the means of incorporation of American literature in the Russian education system of the first post-revolutionary decade and of descriptions of various sides of American society in text books and reading books. The representation of the USA in the school text books is regarded in a broad context of the Russian historical and literary process of the 1920-s.
