From the market or to the market: dynamics of the main indicators of JSC Russian railways

The aim of the work was to analyze the dynamics of the main indicators of the financial and economic activities of JSC Russian Railways. The issue showed that in recent years the functioning of the enterprise has not undergone significant changes. On the one hand, the work of the organization provides the national economy with transport services. On the other hand, it reflects the processes and contradictions that are observed by it. It has been established that government regulation affects freight transportation to a lesser extent, which operates in market conditions and, to a greater extent, passenger transportation, which is subsidized from budgets of various levels. It was revealed that the spread of COVID-19 had an extremely negative impact on passenger traffic and a moderately negative impact on freight traffic.
