The article deals with the appearance of the narrator in short stories by Tatyana Tolstaya. The narrator shows the worth in the highest points when the narration reaches the level of «interior man». Tatyana Tolstaya mixes several techniques: the interior monologue, the stream of consciousness and the tale. The constant use of the artistic forms shapes the myth of the survival of the Soviet intellectual.
