From loan funds to cooperative loans: a way to introduce new social and economic standards into Yakut society (the second half of the 19th - early 20th centuries)

The study discusses the social and economic standards that have been introduced into the daily and public life of the population of Yakutia in the second half of the 19th - early 20th centuries. The author analyzes new rules and standards imposed by the statutes, regulations, and instructions of first financial institutions. Based on archival documents, the author identifies a system of measures taken by the regional administration to make loan institutions available on the territory of Yakutia. The emphasis is placed on the importance of introducing the moral qualities necessary for working life into the public life of Yakutia. The methodological basis of the study includes general scientific methods, primarily historicist and objective evaluations and conclusions. Following the historical facts, the researcher concluded that the public estate and cooperative small-scale credit institutions that operated in the second half of the 19th - early 20th centuries in Yakutsk region not only played a significant role in the regional economic development but also had enlightenment goals fostering the sense of justice and decency towards society as a whole.
