From the earthly to the heavenly: creative path of the icon painter Oleg G. Vostretsov (1960-2020)

The article is devoted to the work of the Yekaterinburg muralist and icon painter Oleg G. Vostretsov (1960-2020), whose activity is connected with the revival and development of church art in the Urals of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Professional qualities, work experience and, of course, talent allowed the artist to create a whole layer of artistic works: fresco, monumental paintings, icons, force sketches, et al., mainly for churches in Yekaterinburg. The article is dedicated to the artist muralist, icon painter of the Yekaterinburg, reveals the versatility of talent and the specifics of skill. Professional qualities, careful attitude to tradition, creative courage and responsibility of the artist allowed liturgical art to become a link between the middle ages and the present. The high quality of the works created by O.Vostretsov, both in terms of artistic skill and depth of content, allows us to appreciate the importance of Orthodox art in the system of modern culture.
