The article describes the key problems of education generated by the large-scale axiological and anthropological crisis of the culture of the postmodern era; asser-tion of a non-classical type of rationality; expansion of digital technologies into key spheres of human life and society. The scale of socio-cultural changes of a global and local nature gives rise to the need to adjust the model of humanitarian education based on the demand for the potential of domestic humanitarian thought, which asserts the spiritual and moral meaning and metaphysical dimen-sions of being. Culturology is now becoming a meaningful matrix and ideological core of humanitarian education, which provides: deep analysis of local and global problems of our time; social demand for humanitarian knowledge; value-normative basis of professions of social and humanitarian orientation. The de-mand for the spiritual and moral ideal in the system of pedagogical practices will become a signi cant factor in the assertion of the higher meaning and mission of education as a key institution of culture.
