The article is devoted to the characteristic trends in the domestic fashion in the context of the formation of the “soviet identity” in the 20 years of the twentieth century. Fashion considering as a cultural practice, by which the representation of the Soviet identity and its construction; as a way of an external manifestation soviet citizen self-determination and as a tool of the spread of the ideology and social and cultural attitudes states. The author emphasizes the importance of the folk tradition in the process of creating a mass of Soviet fashion. Analyze the causes of the popularity of “Russian” themes in Western fashion, largely associated with the culture of the “Russian abroad” in the 20 years of the twentieth century. The example of the Soviet fashion of the period, the author shows the transition from multiple formats of the Silver Age style to dominantly the artistic style of constructivism.
