The article reveals the influence of domestic magazines on the formation of literary views and preferences of S. T. Aksakov and V. N. Nazariev. Numerous author's references to books and magazines from the childhood era give a diverse picture of literary styles and genres. The legacy of S. T. Aksakov is associated with the 18th century. Acquaintance with magazines of that time, reading Russian and translated literature, being surrounded by wonderful people, love for the theater formed the young Aksakov as a writer. The magazine "Children's reading for the heart and mind" gave the young reader a special inner charge, determined in many ways the thematic and genre originality of his work.Descriptive genres are reflected in the works by V. N. Nazaryev. Unlike many of his contemporaries, the writer reflected in his essays not only the general processes taking place in Russian life, but also his personal destiny. In the essay “In the Rural Calm”, we can see how the future writer showed an interest in reading and the foundations of liberal views. V. N. Nazaryev wrote mainly about what he himself was directly involved in, whether it was military or civil service, public activities or impressions of the meetings with people known throughout Russia. The readership of future writers determined their literary tastes and sympathies. Allthis had a specific reflection in theirworks.
