Verbal derivatives and their reverbalization (based on the German language)

Statement of the problem. The article examines German verbal derivatives (affixed and non-affixed) in the context of their reverse transformation, i.e. reverbalization into generating verbs of actional (statal, procedural, event) semantics. The purpose of the article is to identify the taxis functionality of verbal names included in reverbalizing prepositional constructions with temporal prepositions. The object of the study is German verbal derivatives of various lexical and word-formative semantics, used with the temporal prepositions während, bei, in, mit, nach, vor, seit, bis. The subject of the study is reverbalizing constructions based on prepositional verbal nouns of the German language, which are transformed into verbs or verbal predications of identical/similar semantics and implement the taxi functions of simultaneity, precedence, and succession. The main research methods are the following: hypothetico-deductive, inductive, descriptive, contextual, transformational, component analysis method. Research results. Transformations of prepositional-nominal constructions with temporal prepositions indicate that German verbal derivatives retain both the lexical meanings of producing verbs and their ‘hidden’ verbal signs of transitivity, effectiveness, etc.
