Pumping water from the hold with a submersible pump

The features of the use of a ship's submersible pump for pumping water from a flooded hold are considered. The graphical dependences of the pressure on the supply obtained from the test results for the submersible pump are used. The corresponding analytical dependencies are obtained by the least squares method in the Mathcad environment. In the process of pumping water, the level difference increases, so the flow is non-stationary with slowly changing parameters. In the one-dimensional (hydraulic) approximation, the dynamics of such a flow is described by the non-stationary Bernoulli equation. All calculations are performed on the example of the hold of a dry cargo ship. The parameters of the hold, pipeline, and pump are taken into account.
