In the article on the example of ontological argument is considered the question of the atitude to Kant's criticism of arguments for the existence of God in the analytical tradition of the Russian Teological Academies of the late XIX - early XX centuries. It is argued that Kant's negative atitude toward the arguments for the existence of God is a necessary conclusion from his epistemological constructions. Kant's subjective idealism asserts that the knowledge of objects a priori exists, but their cognition occurs only as they are, and not as they are in themselves. Terefore, metaphysics as the knowledge of “things in themselves” is denied, and the idea of God is only a regulative principle of the work of the mind. In this regard, any arg u ment for the existence of God is impossible in principle. According to Kant, in the traditional ontological argument, the judgment about the being of God is not analytic, but synthetic, and the conclusion of existence in the framework of analytical jud g ment is an unacceptable logical leap. Also, is presented a reaction to Kant's cri t ical views from the side of the leading figures of Russian rational theology: Pro f essor V. D. Kudryavtsev-Platonov, Professor V. A. Snegirev, Archbishop Mikhail (Gr i banovsky), Professor V. Nesmelov. Tey tried to propose their own forms of ontological argument. It is concluded that the arguments for the existence of God have the right to exist, and the study of their history and actual forms is an important direction of modern rational theology.
