During the Great Patriotic War in USSR state power turn from internationalist plots and heroes towards Russian pre-revolutionary history with its victories and symbols. One of the important forces which brought it back from oblivion was the Orthodox Church. At the same time, in the phraseology of the Orthodox clergy, including the episcopate, were motives characteristic of the Soviet official language of calls and congratulations. The number of such references and degree of their prevalence among both patriarchal bishops and renovationists were the main subject of this article. The process of using «Soviet terminology» is taken in time — from the first days of the war to the victory over Nazi Germany and Japan. Special emphasis is placed on bishops who took part in the patriotic campaign, on those motivating reasons that moved the bishops during the World War.
