The attitude of the Russian Orthodox Church towards socialism in the Soviet era (based on the Journal of the Moscow patriarchate)

Бесплатный доступ

The attitude of the Russian Church towards socialism changed depending on the political situation throughout the 20th century. During the Great Patriotic War, an official printed organ appeared - the Journal of the Moscow Patriarchate, which took a fairly active and at the same time loyal political position toward the Soviet authorities. For this reason, the attitude towards socialism was regularly declared on its pages. However, this relationship has a certain dynamics, as well as some difference in the definition of the concept itself. The article traces the key publications reflecting the changes in relation to socialism in the official rhetoric of the journal, published during the years of the existence of the USSR, and highlights the key authors who formed the Church's idea of socialism.
