The attitude of host destination residents towards tourists as the indicator of problems of overtourism and tourismphobia (the case of the city resort of Sochi)

The article is devoted to studying of the relation of Sochi residents to tourists. Overtourism and tourismphobia are new phenomena in the world tourism generating many problems for tourist destinations. Based on publications of domestic and foreign researchers of tourism, mass media on this subject, authors try to formulate concepts of an overtourism and a tourismphobia and show they interrelation. The article represents results of studying materials characterizing the concept “tourist destination”, considers its various aspects in works of several Russian and foreign authors. The city of Sochi is classical tourist destination, and authors give its detailed characteristic. The main attention is given to studying various aspects of conflict contradictions between Sochi residents and tourists. In general, inhabitants of Sochi have positive feeling for visitors; more than a half of respondents never had the conflicts with tourists. At the same time existing conflict collisions between part of the population of the city and its guests allow to assume that there is a possibility of problems of overtourism and a tourismphobia in Sochi. Though now in a sharp form these problems are not observed. Results of the sociological survey conducted by a method of questioning of inhabitants of Sochi from January to April, 2019 are empirical base of research.
