The concept of outsourcing quickly entered the practice of business and got really wide distribution. It is called "the phenomenon of the 20th century", as well as "the greatest discovery of business".
The term "outsourcing" itself originated from the English words "outside resource using" and is translated as "the use of external resources". Outsourcing implies the use of contracting resources by the contracting authority of a third-party organization.
The emergence and development of outsourcing is associated with the development of the process of division of labor and globalization of the world economy.
Officially, the term outsourcing was introduced in 1989, when Eastman Kodak hired third-party organizations to purchase, launch and maintain information processing systems. Initially, outsourcing was developed in the production of goods.
Today outsourcing is rapidly gaining strength across the entire employment chain from working professions, to programmers, medical professionals, financial analysts. In the next decade, outsourcing will become a powerful factor in the changes in the dynamics of the labor market. Outsourcing is aimed at increasing the efficiency of production of goods and services, strengthening the competitiveness of firms using outsourcing.[1]
Recently, outsourcing has received extensive development in the service sector, such as financial, legal, settlement.
Today, there are many forms of outsourcing. Depending on the features of the operation, the goals and objectives of a particular enterprise, a corresponding form of outsourcing is applied. The most common forms are:
-
- IT Outsourcing
-
- Financial Outsourcing
-
- Outsourcing in the field of personnel management
-
- Outsourcing in the field of marketing communications [3]
One of the most promising areas of application of outsourcing services is marketing. Outsourcing of marketing includes many marketing functions, for example, such as studying the level of prices, competitive environment, the dynamics of sales of products, advertising promotion, consumer studies, product positioning, branding, etc.
In the field of entrepreneurship in Russia, outsourcing is mainly transferred to the functions of accounting, office support, transportation services, translation services, advertising services, support of computer network and information infrastructure, security.
Nowadays, modern business can not be imagined without the use of outsourcing in practice, as each company strives to use all the latest technologies in order to produce high-quality and competitive products. It is also necessary to note the fact that outsourcing companies specialize in certain activities and have much more experience in their field than other companies. This allows the firm to use the experience of outsourcing firms.
Thus, at the present stage, outsourcing has several advantages:
-
- In the first place, cost savings, since outsourcer services are much lower than the creation of their own structure.
-
- Secondly, saving the workplace; Transfer of functions to outsourcing, eliminates the need for additional office space.
Thirdly, constant work; Outsourcing companies work constantly and reliably, while the company's own employees need to provide leave, sick leave, etc.
Fourth, saving time, i.e. there is no need to waste time on selection and search of personnel, since all the necessary specialists already exist in the company-outsourcer.
-
- Fifth, quality assurance; Outsourcing firms have highly qualified and experienced specialists in their staff. [2]
However, enterprises-outsourcers, along with the advantages have their shortcomings. These include, in particular:
-
- The possibility of reducing quality when attracting an unscrupulous outsourcer.
-
- The threat of information leakage
-
- The risk of losing control over the transferred functions
-
- Possibility of collusion of the service provider with the controlling employee of the company-customer; In this case, prices rise, the difference is divided in half.
-
- Limiting the opportunities for the development and improvement of its specialists.
-
- The threat of bankruptcy of the company-outsourcer.
In our view, in the face of an ever-changing business environment, outsourcing is an indispensable tool for increasing the profitability and productivity of labor in an enterprise. Based on all of the above, we can conclude that it is appropriate to use outsourcing in order to improve the efficiency of the enterprise.
