Lacustrine sedimentation during the late Neopleistocene in the European north-east of Russia

We present the results of the lithological and palynological studies of the Upper Neopleistocene lacustrine deposits in the European North-East of Russia. Climatic optimum of Sula interglacial is characterized by the boreal vegetation comprising spruce, birch and birch-spruce forests with a few broad-leaved species. Seven stages of vegetation changes are identified in the Byzovaya interstadial: from tundra and forest-tundra communities to taiga forests with an admixture of broad-leaved trees.
