Ожирение является серьезной проблемой общественного здравоохранения во всем мире, и выступает независимым фактором риска в частоте и прогрессировании фибрилляции предсердий. Рост показателей заболеваемости и смертности, связанные с данным заболеванием, требует тщательного рассмотрения эпидемиологической и патофизиологической взаимосвязи с ожирением.
