Palaeopathological characteristics of the lower jaw from upper Paleolithic location Afontova Gora II

The article is devoted to the results of paleopathological investigation of the lower jaw from Afontova Gora II Upper Paleolithic site. Dental pathologies and the outer relief of bone surfaces were investigated. The results of analysis brought to the conclusion about high level of animal proteins in the individual's food, and low level of carbohydrates. Hereditary immune disorders were also suggested, based on pathological changes in the outer structures of teeth enamel and surfaces of the jaw bone. These disorders might be the cause of pit enamel hypoplasia and sialadenitis.
