Statement of the problem. The analysis of E. Margolis’ books Venetian Notebooks and Traces on the Water helps to get an idea about the nature of genre transformations in intermedial models. The purpose of the article is to study the artist’s book as an original genre model focused on the palimpsest technique. Review of scientific literature on the problem. The authors rely on the analysis of the genre model proposed in the works of N.L. Leiderman, studies of palimpsest in the works of E.V. Kryukova, I.I. Mitina, I.M. Sakhno, V.I. Tyupа, Yu.V. Shatin. Methodology. Analytical reading of E. Margolis’ books is based on systemic, typological, structural- semiotic approaches, and methods of analyzing the artistic model of the genre. Research results. The book creativity of E. Margolis is a polyphonic genre formation that actualizes the traditions of Christian art and forms a special communicative space. Dialogue as a constructive principle for building an artistic model is organized through: a combination of verbal and visual, depicted and expressed; alternating internal compositional blocks and internal genres; own and other people’s space; individual-author and collective consciousness; various rhythmic patterns and temporhythmic characteristics of various text segments.
