Paraphrase of psalms in Russian poetry of 1820-s

Paraphrase of Psalms in Russian Poetry 1810-20. are examples of the continuity of the tradition of the eighteenth century by Lomonosov and Sumarokov, its continuation by classical poets, as well as curious examples of its restoration by young poets, romantics, seeking to reflect the greatness of the events of the era in the language of high poetry. During the war with Napoleon and in the following decade, the paraphrase of the psalms appear in the works of such various authors as Derzhavin, Shishkov, Pisarev, Khvostov, Shatrov, Glinka, Griboyedov, Kiichelbecker, Yazykov.
