The Paris period in the life of the Russian japanologist Serge Elisseeff

The article deals with the life and scientific activities of the japanologist Serge Elisseeff (Elisséèv) in France in 1921-1934 after his flee from the Soviet Russia. The article is based on the documents found by the author in a number of archives and museums of Paris. The information from Elisseeff's relatives is also used. These archive documents give another interpretation of the first years of Elisseeff as an emigrant, they show his real position in the scientific and museum world of France, his difficulties in the new atmosphere.
