Double burial in the hearth of a dwelling (the Ust-Voykar fortified settlement)

Бесплатный доступ

The study describes an unusual object - a double male burial discovered in the hearth of dwelling No. 11 in the Ust-Voykar fortified settlement (the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug). The buried were the males 35-40 and 40-45 years old. The morphological features of their skulls make it possible to confidently identify both individuals as Caucasian. The absence of traces of thermal impact on the bones of the skeletons indicates that after the burial the hearth was not used for its intended purpose. Based on the high degree of coinciding individual morphological traits of dental system, it is suggested that the buried belonged to a closely related group. The estimated date of the burial is first third - mid of the 17th century.
