The article is devoted to the study of a patent as a form of protection of inventions, utility models and industrial designs. Today, this issue is of great relevance in modern society, where intellectual property plays a major role in the development of science, technology, economics and often innovation. A patent is a form of intellectual property protection that allows the copyright holder to protect his inventions, utility models and industrial designs from unauthorized use or copying by other companies and individuals. Obtaining a patent gives the copyright holder the exclusive right to use his invention within a certain period of time. This study will analyze the patent system of various countries, including the legal framework, the patent application procedure, the requirements for inventions and the conditions for their recognition as patent. The main advantages and disadvantages of the patent system in the context of intellectual property protection will also be considered.
