Pathophysiological risk factors for atherosclerosis

The article discribes the problem of atherosclerosis - the most common disease nowadays. It is characterized by the accumulation of lipids, inflammatory processes and the proliferation of connective tissue in the arteries, which eventually leads to obturation of the lumen of the blood vessel, as well as to ischemic disruption of the relevant organs, for example, acute myocarditis, strokes, etc. The purpose of this work is to review and systematize the main pathophysiological risk factors for atherosclerosis, as their understanding will improve etiotropic and pathogenetic strategies for the treatment of patients with this disease.
