Pathomorphological changes in congenital nephro- and cardiomyopathy in a foal

Purebred breeding of horses is often associated with the appearance of mutations of various genes, leading to the birth of young animals with various congenital diseases. Hereditary defects can manifest themselves both in the form of anatomical anomalies visible to na-ked eye, and in the form of changes in the tissue, cellu-lar and subcellular levels, which significantly compli-cates the intravital diagnosis of pathological processes. The research of pathoanatomical and histologic chang-es of bodies and cells of the corpse of one of several foals who fell in the first days of life and were the poster-ity of different mothers, but the same thoroughbred stal-lion - allegedly the carrier of mutational genes was con-ducted. In the course of pathomorphological examina-tion, the main disease was found which is the syndrome of congenital pathological conditions: renal pathology (glomerulo- and tubulopathy), cardiac and skeletal mus-cles (dilated cardiomyopathy and deep protein dystro-phy), the main complications that led to the death of the animal were renal failure, uremic encephalopathy, mas-sive ascites, thrombosis of the left ventricle of the heart, cardiopulmonary insufficiency and asphyxia. The data of pathoanatomical autopsy were confirmed with histologic research of changed bodies and cells at which exist-ence of deep degenerate processes were established. For the exception of diseases of infectious etiology la-boratory researches of pathoanatomical material were conducted. The data of pathoanatomical dissection were confirmed by histological study of altered organs and tissues, in which the presence of deep degenera- tive processes was established. To exclude diseases of infectious etiology, a laboratory study of pathoanatomical material was carried out. During com-plex analysis of obtained data intravital diagnosis was disproved and hereditary nature of pathological pro-cesses was confirmed, i.e. the rejection of breeding manufacturing stallion - the carrier of mutant genes was made.
