The article discusses the role of innovation processes in the higher education system. It is noted that the more rapid introduction of educational innovations will raise the professional level of experts in accordance with the challenges of time. The author defines the content of the educational innovation concept (pedagogical neology, pedagogical axiology, pedagogical praxeology). As an active and effective form of training in higher schools the paper considers a business game that requires a high level of skill and experience of a teacher.
