Statement of the problem. The article examines the issue of sociocultural adaptation of Chinese students in the preparatory department of a university, its features, as well as the difficulties faced by teachers working in the preparatory department. Attention is focused on the fact that the scientific research was carried out on the basis of the Amur State University, which is located on the border with the People’s Republic of China, and therefore the sociocultural adaptation of Chinese students in this region is particularly specific. It is noted that in the border region there is interaction and mutual influence of the cultures of Russia and China, which affects the sociocultural adaptation of Chinese students of the preparatory department at a Russian university. The study is devoted to studying the issue of pedagogical support for teachers working with Chinese students. The purpose of the article is to develop a set of measures for pedagogical support of teachers in the sociocultural adaptation of Chinese students in the preparatory department of a university. Methodology (materials and methods). The research methodology consists of intercultural, competency-based, and sociocultural approaches. The research methods are analysis and generalization of scientific research works on the issues of pedagogical support, training of foreigners, their sociocultural adaptation in new conditions, expert survey and questionnaires. Research results. Based on an expert survey, analysis of scientific literature, dissertation fund, etc., the authors highlight the difficulties faced by teachers working with Chinese students, and also proposed and justified a set of measures aimed at pedagogical support for teachers, allowing them to minimize the difficulties that arise in the sociocultural adaptation of Chinese students in the preparatory department of a university.
