The research problem and the rationale for its relevance. The relevance of article is connected with high requirements of the state and society to necessity of maintenance of quality of education for this purpose at school the head is responsible. He also represents the first person who determines the image of the general educational organization. The results of the experiment demonstrate the existence of professional shortages in managers associated with the application of modern technologies of education management. The conclusion is made that it is necessary to find new ways to motivate adult education. The goal of research. The goal is to describe and substantiate pedagogical principles of increasing motivation for professional development of heads of general educational organizations. There is a review of scientific research on the importance of continuous professional development of the individual and the need to update the technologies used in the system of additional professional education. Methodology. The methodology is based on the position of motivational theory A. Maslow, which highlights principles that involve taking into account the current needs of school leaders and activate them to create new, more complex needs that promote self-actualization in the future. Results. Description of the research results focuses on the characteristics of the pedagogical principles that are implied: a) account of transformations occurring in world space, demanding development of prognostic abilities of heads; b) enrichment of educational programs of additional professional education with modern technologies of mediation of educational process; c) orientation in the course of improvement of professional skill of heads of schools on readiness of maintenance of qualitative training of “difficult contingents of students”; d) reliance on the adragogical approach and application of facilitation for active work of students; e) optimal selection of forms, technologies and methods of training for intensification of the educational process; f) expansion of managers' ideas about options of self-development in the real and virtual environment; g) orientation of content and organizational aspects of professional development programs on mastering of time management technologies by managers. The scientific novelty consists in the description of complex application of modern pedagogical principles for the decision of a problem of increase of motivation of professional development of heads of general educational organizations. Practical significance is determined by the applied nature of the proposed pedagogical principles and the possibility of their application in the system of additional education for managerial staff. Opportunities and limitations of the proposed principles in professional development of managers of general educational organizations are discussed.
