S. V. Rachmaninoff is one of the most beloved Russian musicians among the Chinese public, his music is full of sadness and rich lyricism, implying a "Russian melancholy" that is close to the mentality of the Chinese nation. Rachmaninoff's music has its roots in Russian folk music, especially Russian folk songs, and therefore represents a very authentic national style. Works by S. V. Rachmaninov are a necessary component of the pedagogical repertoire of the piano class, marking the pinnacle of a significant stage in the development of Russian piano art. Unlike many of his contemporaries, who created works based on the moribund traditions of the outgoing culture of the 19th century, Rachmaninov was able to synthesize in his work all the contradictions of modern culture. From this point of view, his works are fertile pedagogical material for the study of traditions and innovations in Russian musical culture at the turn of the century. The pedagogical potential of Rachmaninov's piano works is associated, first of all, with his performing activities. Being himself a talented virtuoso pianist, he knew and understood the specifics of performance, technical difficulties, textural components of the performance process, and the peculiarities of musical language.
