Penalization of crimes related to the illicit trafficking in drug, psychotropic substance precursors and their analogs

The article discusses the penalization of crimes related to the illicit trafficking in drug and psychotropic substance precursors. The author considers the concept of penalization of crimes, various aspects of its content and the essence of this process. At the same time, the definitions of the specified category formulated in the criminal law doctrine are analyzed. Attention is paid to the determination of the basis of penalization and the correlation of this process with the criminalization of the corresponding acts. This ratio in general terms is as follows: when identifying the need for a criminal legal prohibition of certain socially dangerous acts, the legislator carries out their criminalization and is obliged to determine the type and amount of punishment for committing them. The author analyzed the sanctions of the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and developed proposals to improve the provisions of the criminal law insofar as it concerns punishments for the abovementioned crimes.
