Penitentiary crime: characteristics, features of investigation and prevention in the works of professor V.S. Ishigeev

Introduction. On 16 November 2024, Vladimir Stepanovich Ishigeev, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honoured Lawyer of the Republic of Buryatia, celebrates his 65th birthday. Vladimir Stepanovich was born on 16 November 1959 in Angarsk, Irkutsk region. В. S. Ishigeev belongs to the number of scientists who at a high level, fundamentally engaged in the study of the problems of combating crime. In 1982, after graduating from Irkutsk State University, Vladimir Stepanovich began his professional career in the internal affairs bodies, after which he was engaged in teaching activities for 30 years. The article is devoted to the review of the range of scientific interests of Professor V. S. Ishigeev and one of the main topics - ‘Penitentiary crime: characteristics, features of investigation and prevention’. Beyond any doubt, in the criminal-legal science V. S. Ishigeev contributed to the criminal-legal science. S. Ishigeev has made an invaluable contribution to the science of criminal law, developed theoretical and applied provisions that are important primarily for law enforcement practice. The works of the scientist are invaluable and deserve the attention of both students of educational organisations of higher education, as well as persons engaged in scientific activities and law enforcement officers.
