Transfusion of platelets in autologous stem cell transplantation

Platelet transfusions have been studied in 169 patients who received autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. It has been established that preventive transfusion in platelet concentration of less than 10 х 109 cells / L effectively prevent bleeding. The need for platelets in patients with autoimmune diseases averaged 0.3 unit per patient and 1.6 unit per oncohema-tological patients. 47% of oncohematological patients are requiring transfusion of 2 or more units of platelets transfusion. 3 or more platelet units are associated with longer treatment. In patients with autoimmune diseases platelet transfusions are not related to the length of staying.
