The figurative meaning of adjectives of color as a property of linguistic thinking (based on the material of the Russian and Chinese languages)

Statement of the problem. This article is devoted to the study of the translational meaning of adjectives of color in the Russian and Chinese languages. The purpose of the study is to identify the universal properties of linguistic thinking. The object of the study is the grounds for transferring the meaning of adjectives of color. The subject of this stage of research is to identify the properties of linguistic semantic universals. Methodology. The article analyzes the effect of linguistic semantic universals in Russian and Chinese. Research results. The study of the figurative meanings of color adjectives allowed us to discover the commonality of the language thinking of the Chinese and Russians in the field of acquiring secondary meanings of color adjectives that are not related to color semantics. It is found out that metaphorical associative thinking is a universal property of linguistic thinking. The result obtained allows us to see the commonality of the language thinking of the Chinese and Russians in the field of acquiring secondary meanings unrelated to color semantics. Conclusion. The revealed similarity of semantic structures is due to the commonality of human thinking, which generates the presence of trans-semantic universals.
