Intersection of discrimination in the united kingdom of the late XX and early XXI centuries: historical context and theoretical approaches

The article deals with the problem of crossing different discriminative practices in the life of the representatives of the contemporary British society. The author draws attention to the possibilities and prospects for the use of different theoretical frames such as gender theory, critical race theory, the theory of intersectionality and queer studies in the analysis of the status of minorities in Britain of the late XX and early XXI centuries. Through some British examples, the author investigates how new approaches appeared and proposed a new vision of the position of minorities. Intersectionality theory and queer theory are under analysis in the paper, and the author states that the intersection of gender, race and sexuality is problematized in contemporary society. For example, multicultural policy may cause severe gender discrimination in non-white communities where non-white men get power to rule the community. At the same time, the image of an oppressed Muslim woman may be used in the foreign policy of the West as a cause of some actions against Muslim men as aggressors.
