The article states and substantiates the hypothesis that N.S. Gumilyov’s translations of W. Shakespeare’s sonnets 17 and 18 are inspired by Gumilyov’s own emotions and experiences - in particular, by his affair with Larisa Reisner. There are semantic connections with poems dedicated to Reisner, as well as with biographical details of her life.
