Translation of the article “Revelation as gift and promise” by professor archpriest Dumitru Staniloae

In this article, the well-known Romanian theologian Professor Archpriest Dumitru Stăniloae examines some features of the Western and Eastern exegesis of Holy Scripture in the context of the problems of prophetism and eschatological perspective, in connection with the modern Western “theology of hope”. In conclusion, Father D. Stăniloae speaks of a conscious Christian responsibility for the life of the world, which allows us to get away from the extremes of humanistic arrogance and indifferently passive expectation of the future.
