The article analyzes the phenomenon of performative practices in the discourse of cultural axiology. Over a long period of time, performative practices are both a re ection of the value picture of the world of modern society and a way to assimilate the ethical and aesthetic values that dominate the sociocultural space. The 20th century in art was marked by major tectonic shifts: language, artistic style, and the very understanding of what art is and what its purpose has changed. Classical ideas about the values of “high” and “low” culture become illegitimate in attempts to work with the essential features of modern artistic practices, including performative ones, which raises the problem of their assessment. Also, due to value relativism, we encounter borderline states in people’s everyday lives, in their relationships, in their perception of artistic texts through the prism of their value systems. It is the shift in value orientation that actualizes the axiological analysis of performative practices.
