Lipids peroxidation and system of antioxidant protection at the period of early postnatal adaptation in calves

The authors estimated the intensivity of lipids peroxidation and also functional activity of fermentative and nonfermentative units of antioxidant system of protection in calves of the Black-and-White breed at the period of postnatal adaptation. The age-specific mechanisms of formation of antioxidant system of protection were revealed. The most high content of primary and second products of lipids peroxidation was revealed in postnatal calves, that suggests about oxidative stress. At this period the concentrations of superoxiddismutase and catalase in blood increase, the concentrations of glutathione peroxidase, E vitamin and ceruloplasmin increase at the following stages of postnatal adaptation. It was shown, that physiologically valuable antioxidant protection system form in calves only to one monthly age.
