This article explores the axiological aspects of legal regulation of personal data. Philosophers of antiquity and the modern era have already raised questions about the balance between personal autonomy and the public good, which makes this topic highly relevant in the context of today’s digital society. The author analyses the key legal and ethical issues surrounding personal data processing, paying particular attention to privacy and data protection concerns. In the conclusion, the author argues for the implementation of an axiological approach that would ensure a balance between the right to personal autonomy and the interests of public welfare (or public security).
